Yesterday BBC News reported that 'Increases in personal tax allowances will sees basic rate taxpayers taking home nearly £300 extra this year.' (Source: BBC News)The allowance for those under 65 is set to raise from £8,105(12/13) to £9,440(13/14) and then up to £10,000 (14/15) meaning around 257,000 workers will be exempt completely. (Source: HMRC) Allowances are frozen for over 65's at 10,500 and 10.660 for over 75's. (Source: Guardian)
